BACKFLOW TESTING

Backflow Prevention Testing

Backflow prevention is a requirement of the State of Ohio Department of Commerce, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, and the City of Bedford Water Department. The purpose of the backflow preventer is to prevent any possible contamination of water flowing back into the public water system.

The device is to be tested no less than once every 12 months to insure its proper operation. A State of Ohio Certified Tester must do the testing. Contact the building department for a list of registered plumbers.

You must return the original test sheet to our office. Our return address is as follows:

City of Bedford
Attn: Water Dept. Backflow
120 Solon Rd.
Bedford OH, 44146

Or you may email your test results along with any other questions to:

BACKFLOW@BEDFORDOH.GOV
