The Bedford Garden Club
  -  Founded 1927

About us. . . . . . . . .

Since 1927, The Bedford Garden Club continues to be one of the leading service clubs in Bedford. This year the Club celebrates its 90th Anniversary with special events and projects.

As the oldest active garden club in Cuyahoga County, the Club provides educational programs, plant sales and exchanges, field trips and other activities. Members support or maintain a variety of gardens and projects, including the rotunda beds at City Hall, the Bedford Historical Museum, Babyland in Bedford Cemetery, the Civil War Monument on the Commons, flower baskets on the Union Street Bridge and the Community Gardens behind Central Elementary School.

Additional community involvement includes sponsorship of the Bedford Beauties contest, participation in an Arbor Day tree planting, the Bedford Strawberry Festival, the Harvest Festival, the Celebration Of The Arts Weekend, Christmas In Bedford Falls and other events.

As concerned citizens, they have a history of interest and involvement in environmental issues that impact the community, sustainability, and civic beautification. The Club typically meets the third Thursday of each month, except in January, February and July at the Ellenwood Recreation Center.

Bedford Beauty

You will not see these Bedford Beauties on the cover of Sports Illustrated. However they could be candidates for the House & Garden. Since 2011, The Bedford Garden Club has acknowledged Bedfords gardeners and the outstanding curb appeal of their yards. Nominations begin in May. In addition to nominations, a team of judges visit neighborhoods in June to select winning residents and businesses. Winners get a Bedford Beauties "bragging rights" sign in their front yard for the month of July.
The Bedford Garden Club, founded in 1927, has a long-standing tradition of keeping Bedford beautiful with public gardens throughout the city. In addition the Club salutes those homeowners who contribute to a more beautiful Bedford. Our community is all the better for their labors of love. As you traverse the town, by foot, car or bicycle enjoy these Bedford Beauties.
The front yards will be judged on beauty, creativity and design between June 11 2018 and June 28 2018.
If you see a front yard garden that you want to nominate, email us at (include the address of the yard along with a few words on why you like it) or turn in entry forms at the Bedford Library, 70 Columbus Road after May 15.
